Xiaomi Mi6 latest rumours - release date, Price, specifications

Some sites will have you believe the Mi 6 is going to come with a 4K screen and 16-core processor, but the full spec sheet has just popped up online for not only a Xiaomi Mi6 but also a larger variant is known as the Xiaomi Mi6 Plus. We've also seen a leaked image of what is said to be the product packaging, which reveals a whopping 30Mp camera.

When is the Xiaomi Mi6 release date?

Xiaomi Mi 6 release date: 16 April 2017 (TBC)

With the Xiaomi Mi5 announced last March, Xiaomi's Mi 6 is surely imminent - but it wasn't announced at MWC 2017. TechCrunch says a spokesman told it the company had no new products to launch at the event (it recently unveiled the new Mi TV 4 and Mi Router at CES 2017), but in fact, it announced the Xiaomi Mi 5C at the end of February. We can't help wondering whether its absence at MWC had more to do with the loss of its leader, Hugo Barra, as he moves on to Facebook as VP of VR.
Indeed, the latest reports suggest a launch date of 16 April for the Xiaomi Mi 6.
There is no official UK release date for the Xiaomi Mi 6 because it will not be officially sold here. As always, you’ll be able to purchase it from Chinese importers such as GearBest and Geekbuying, but probably at a slightly inflated price.
There is a chance we will see a Global version of the Mi 6, as we did with its flagship phablet the Mi Note 2, although this will refer to its connectivity rather than its availability. Most Xiaomi phones do not support the 800MHz 4G band in the UK (though they do 2100MHz and 2600MHz), but the Global Mi Note 2 does. How much will the Xiaomi Mi6 cost in the India?

We've heard rumours about so many Xiaomi Mi6 variants that things are getting really confusing. What's most likely is that there will be a Mi6 and a Mi6 Plus, as there was with the Mi5, but you may also be able to buy a slightly stripped down version with less storage and RAM. To avoid confusion we'll refer to these handsets as the Mi6 Lite, Mi6 standard and Mi6 Plus.

What are the rumoured specifications and features for the Xiaomi Mi6?

Smash leaks has posted online a specification spreadsheet for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi6 and Mi6 Plus, which we have replicated below. We can't vouch for its authenticity, though nothing here stands out as being as ridiculous as some of the earlier rumours we've heard.
Some sites have pointed to the fact a dual-camera has been listed for the Mi6 Plus as being particularly noteworthy, though we're more interested in the fact that - if this is true - both models support all UK 4G bands (B3, B7 and B20). This is something we've previously seen only in the Global variant of the Mi Note 2.
The latest rumour on the camera front goes against this spec sheet, however, suggesting that there will be a 30Mp camera - that's according to some product packaging leaked online (via GSMArena).
